Meta Marion Goldsmith Scholarship
The deadline for the 2012 Meta Marion Goldsmith Scholarship application has passed.
Scholarships are for students majoring and minoring in World Languages. World Language Graduate students and Teacher Education candidates may also eligible to receive scholarships, depending on available funding:
- Scholarships may be renewed for a second year, students need to reapply.
Majors, Graduates and Teaching Credential candidates in the Teaching Credential can receive $1,500 ($750 per semester).
Minors (including minors in the WL for International Business) can receive $1,000 ($500 per semester).
Required Qualifications for Majors and Minors
- Have officially declared a major or minor in a world language at SJSU, prior to Spring 2011
- Have completed at least one semester of world language study at San Jose State University
- Be a student enrolled in two world language classes each of the semesters receiving the scholarship
- Have an overall GPA of 3.0
- Have a World Language GPA of 3.5 (3.75 for merit-only applicants)
- The recommendation of a world language faculty member at SJSU
- Financial need certified by the Office of Financial Aid or exceptional merit as determined by the Scholarship Committee (not needed for merit-only applicants)
Superior GPA (3.5 overall, 3.75 in major), Leadership in WL clubs, Honor Society, student outreach, other WL activities.
Required Qualifications for Graduate Students and Teacher Education Candidates
- Be enrolled in a graduate or credential program in World Languages at SJSU
- Be a student enrolled in two WL courses each of the semesters receiving the scholarship
- Have a World Language GPA of 3.5 (3.75 for merit-only applicants)
- The recommendation of a World Language instructor
- Financial need certified by the Office of Financial Aid or exceptional merit as determined by the Scholarship Committee (not needed for merit-only applicants)
Superior GPA (3.75 in major), Leadership in WL clubs, Honor Society, student outreach, other WL activities - Unofficial transcript must be uploaded to the online application or turned in to the WLL Department
