From Student-Athlete to Activist-Scholar, Harry Edwards’ life and work demonstrate that spo rt is a window to society, revealing a broad range of social and political concerns that affect us all. The Dr. Harry Edwards Collection includes historic photos, autographed books, Olympic Project for Human Rights memorabilia, and correspondence from Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. and President Barack Obama.

SJSU Special Collections and Archives is growing its collection of artifacts and memorabilia connected to the history of sport and social change, including the Olympic Project for Human Rights and the Speed City era.

Draymond Green and “Sideline Racism”

As a symbol of the institute's partnership with the Ross Initiative in Sports for Equality, RISE CEO Jocelyn Benson presented Golden State Warriors player Draymond Green's "sideline racism" game shoes to the institute. The shoes will be part of the Dr. Harry Edwards Collection. Learn more about RISE's empowerment of athlete activists.
