Today's fast-paced world leaves many of us feeling overwhelmed and prone to depression, anxiety and health problems. UMASS Medical School's Center for Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction (MBSR) program, brought to SJSU by adjunct faculty Rochelle McLaughlin, is designed to teach individuals how to manage daily stress, and live a happier, more balanced life.
Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction (MBSR) can complement the medical management of chronic or acute conditions and has proven effective in treating many conditions, including anxiety, depression, heart disease, insomnia, fibromyalgia, and cancer.
- Learn coping skills to manage stress, anxiety, depression, and symptoms of illness
- Develop communication skills to improve relationships with family, friends, and colleagues
- Know how to create a sense of well-being and personal life control
Course Schedule and Fee:
Eight Thursday evenings from April 12 to May 31 between 6:30 pm and 9:00 pm and one all-day Saturday class on May 12, 2018 between 8:35 am and 4:30 pm. Orientation sessions are scheduled on 3/29 and 4/5 between 6:30 PM and 7:30. At least one orientation is required for joining the class.
