Do you remember what it was like living in the dorm rooms, gathering by the student union, making those trips to the copy center and spending endless hours in the library? A lot of things have changed since the time you were a student at San José State -- but some remain the same.
"When we call alumni, we remind them of the good times they had on campus," says Krystel Taglorin, '10 Occupational Therapy, one of 15 SJSU students staffing the new on-campus call center. "Alumni like hearing what's going on first-hand from students--and we love learning about their experiences after graduation."
Established in October 2007, the student call center is staffed by the university's best and brightest students who want to ensure that future generations receive the same quality education as their predecessors.
"Alumni can fund technology initiatives, invest in facility improvements, sponsor assistance for students--they can help at so many levels," says Mayvelin Vasquez, '12 Nursing. "We want them to know that every dollar they donate counts."
SJSU students connect with more than 5,400 individuals every month, including alumni, parents and friends of the university across the country.
"Our students aren't just calling to ask for gifts," says Nancy Stewart, director of annual giving. "They call to connect with alumni and rekindle memories of San José State. All of them share that Spartan pride."
Students depend on the financial assistance and program support provided by alumni, parents and friends. When a student calls you, he or she is offering you the opportunity to make a difference in their lives--here and now.
