Nominated by Tawnee Chan, '09 College of Humanities and the Arts
When I took intermediate graphic design (DSGD 105), Joe Miller mentored and motivated me -- which helped me get into San José State's highly competitive BFA in Graphic Design program. Joe has always been approachable, and his critiques and realistic expectations kept me going to his office hours for feedback, even when I wasn't taking one of his classes. His irreverant sense of humor, outstanding accomplishments in education and business, and his involvement in local galleries continue to inspire me. Joe was once a student in the Graphic Design program at San José State, which gives me hope that I will one day be just like him, successful and passionate.
