Art 100W Tutorial: Intro

The Information Age

This is often called "The Information Age." To succeed as a student or as a working artist, designer, art educator or historian, you need to develop skills for finding, evaluating and using information. For this reason, many universities (including this one) are focusing more and more on teaching "information competency" skills--both basic ones (taught primarily in conjunction with English 1B classes) and more specialized skills required for your major (taught in conjunction with 100W classes). In addition to your regular 100W sessions, 100W includes a special session taught by the Art Librarian, handouts, this tutorial, and sometimes online tutorials or assignments that will help you develop information competency in your field.

Infocomp Learning Outcomes for Art 100W

These are the five basic information competence skills you should have when you've passed Art 100W. Click on the number of each for a more detailed tutorial on that skill. You can also start with the first and move through all five.
