Academic Advising & Retention Services staff assists students with the following academic situations. 

  • Disqualification (DQ): Undergraduate and graduate students are disqualified when, after being on probation, they earn a term GPA of less than 2.0 (undergraduates) or 3.0 (graduate students).
  • Late Drops: The process of dropping a course after the published "last day to drop without a W" date each semester.
  • Probation: An undergraduate student is placed on academic probation if the SJSU cumulative GPA falls below a "C" average (2.0). A graduate student is placed on academic probation if the SJSU cumulative GPA falls below a "B" average (3.0).
  • Reinstatement and Readmission: Learn about the two-step process to return as a student at SJSU after having been disqualified.
