Bio:
Passionate researcher in aviation education and training, Gerasimos Kontos strongly believes that the more people interact with intelligent machines, the higher the need emerges for the acquisition of soft skills for maintaining human capabilities and addressing safety critical events.
As a Fulbright Scholar for spring semester 2021, Gerasimos will be hosted by SJSU, Department of Aerospace Engineering, aiming to identify the challenges set by digital transformation and artificial intelligence for the future of Aerospace Engineers and Aviation Professionals education and training. More specifically, he aims to identify the particular non-technical skills required from aerospace engineers and human operators for harnessing the potential of AI and automation as well as the necessary adaptation of the educational method for providing these skills to compensate for human operators' potential deskilling.
