Print & Technology Center


The PTC combines the A.S. Print Shop and A.S. Computer Services Center into a self-supporting service designed to meet the academic and administrative needs of the SJSU community by providing students, faculty, and staff with printing, copying and technology services, including mobile phone and computer repair, laptop rental, data backup and more.

Special Print Orders are available to SJSU Departments and auxiliaries to produce large orders. To receive a quote on the order submit a Quote Formto the center in person or via email.

Some tech services that the Print and Technology Center offers are: diagnostics, upgrading operating systems, data backup, virus removal and more.

Print and Technology Center offers free software diagnostics over the counter, and basic to advanced diagnostics and repairs on check-in for a $15 non-refundable deposit. This deposit goes towards what ever repair solution you choose.

Print and Technology Center provides operating system installation services. We can install:

  • Windows 7
  • Windows 8.1
  • Windows 10
  • MacOS

Notice: We will not provide activation keys for Windows or MacOS. Often, Windows will have the activation key built into the computer or will be saved with your Microsoft account.

Your data is important and computers/phones can often be unreliable, especially when you need them the most! In these cases, we provide data backup for a variety of hard drive issues. We can extract data from most corrupt hard drives and back up your critical data onto your choice of USB storage such as external hard drive or a flash drive.

Harmful software may find its way onto your computer, even with the proper antivirus. These files include viruses, adware, and spyware. These files can harm your computer, give you popup ads, track your internet and computer usage. Print and Technology center is here to help. We can remove those harmful programs and help drastically lower the chance of them returning. Students receive a free copy of Sophos antivirus, at no cost, to help protect you in the future.

Print and Technology Center can help you with your software installation needs. We can install software ranging from internet browsers, text editors, antivirus, and many more. We can also update currently installed software and drivers for you. Please reach out to us for more information!

Print and Technology Center can diagnose and troubleshoot individual common hardware issues/upgrades such as Hard Drive, Memory/Ram and Power Supplys.

Did you purchase a new device and require additional setup? We can help make your new device plug and play, so you never have to worry about setting it all up on your own. We cover windows updates, software installations, driver updates and we can help with email account setups.

We can repair a wide selection of mobile devices & replace their screens. Below are some popular devices we see time and time again.

    • iPhone 4 & up
    • iPad 4th generation & up
  • Samsung Galaxy phones & tables
  • Majority of other phone brands including:
    • Motorola Moto
    • Google Pixel
    • Huawei

Labor for screen replacement: $30 (Customer must provide replacement parts).

Notice: Your phone will not be water proof/resistant after installation of a replacement screen


  • Client allows the A.S. Print & Technology Center (PTC) to perform a diagnostic and/or equipment repair which includes formatting (erasing all data) of any storage device.
  • Client allows the PTC to verify the integrity of client’s data.
  • Client indemnifies, defends and holds harmless Associated Students—SJSU, the Trustees of the California State University and the state of California, their officers, agents or employees from any and all liability, claim, loss or obligations on account of or arising out of injury, death or damage connected with these services.
  • If client changes configuration of hardware, software or performs any type of repair, Associated Students will not be held responsible.
  • The center is not responsible for any data loss or damage during process of repair.
  • It is the client’s responsibility to back up all files and data.
  • The center reserves the right to recycle the client’s device if s/he fails to pick up within six months from the repair completion date.
