A student who achieves career readiness can demonstrate the requisite knowledge and
skills that broadly prepare college graduates for a successful transition into the
workplace or postgraduate studies (adapted for SJSU from NACE’s Career Readiness Competencies).
A student achieves initial career success when they have secured employment that requires
a college degree or acceptance into a postgraduate program within six months after
graduation.
A student attains economic self-sufficiency if they have the ability to meet their
basic needs without government assistance within one year of graduation.
