Application Process

Campus Deadline:  February 17, 2020 at 5:00 p.m., via email or personal delivery.

Chancellor's Office Online Submission Deadline:  February 28, 2020


Download the application packet to draft all of your documents.  You must complete the application documents in their entirety, including your student plan with your sponsor's approval signature.  Templates for the plan, essays, faculty sponsor form, and letter of evaluation are available in the paper document.  Once you have collected all of your documents, email them to the College of Graduate Studies in one pdf document to  They will thereafter be submitted to a reviewer for approval or further suggestions/edits. After final approval from the Associate Dean of the College of Graduate Studies, you will be given a code to upload your documents to the Chancellor's website.  Please submit your application to the College of Graduate studies as early as possible.  This will allow them to provide you with the best possible feedback for a successful application.  The deadline for submission to the College of Graduate Studies is February 14.  No late applications will be accepted.

While you complete the forms, you should also request a letter of evaluation from your sponsor.  Make sure that your sponsor reads the prompt provided in the Faculty Confidential Letter of Evaluation.  They may submit their letter on SJSU letterhead as an attachment to the form.  Graduate Studies does not need to have this letter to review your application, but it will need to be uploaded to the Chancellor's Office.

Online Submission Process (due to the Chancellor's Office no later than February 28, 2020):
