MS Bioinformatics - Admission Requirements

Prepare For Admission

Letters of Recommendation:  When you apply for admission to the MS Bioinformatics program via the Cal State Apply web portal, one of the items you will be asked to provide for your application are two letters of recommendation from two academic professionals. The academic professionals should have significant familiarity with your previous academic work and performance. The letters should speak to your ability to succeed as a graduate student in the MS Bioinformatics program. The letters should also describe the length of time and extent of their knowledge about your academic, professional goals, and preparation for the MS Bioinformatics major. The portal will have information that you will need to pass along to individuals providing letters of reference, such as where to upload letters, format, content, and deadlines.

Personal Statement:  You will be asked to provide a personal statement about your background, desire and reasons for pursuing a MS Bioinformatics degree, and why you believe you will be a successful graduate student.

Academic Transcripts:  You will be required to provide official transcripts from all previous academic institutions you have attended. This can be accomplished by asking the institutions you attended to send official transcripts to the provided SJSU address or electronic submission portal. The MS Bioinformatics admission committee will not accept or consider transcripts from Extension Universities, Courses, or Programs. Unofficial transcripts will not be accepted.
