Peer Advisors

Hello Prospective Employee:

The ideal candidate for the Peer Advisor position is a true engineer who approaches a situation or problem from multiple angles. This person displays humility and true curiousity about how SJSU works (i.e. registration, policies, student skills) and commits to providing accurate information even if the answer is "I do not know the answer to that, but I will ask one of our professional advisors and get back to you."

We care about the students we help, so we do our best to gain, maintain, and deserve their trust. Therefore, our employees are considered representatives of the center at all times, to include off-duty hours, so professionalism and maturity is of utmost importance.

To apply, simply do a casual meet and greet with the peer advisors any time during our open hours. This will give you an idea of the kinds of requests and questions students ask at our virtual live desk and the type of customer service expected for the role. You can drop-in any time at the live help desk in Engr 116 from 8:30-4:30 p.m. Mondays-Fridays, except 12:00-1:00 p.m. when we are closed for lunch or virtually at https://sjsu.zoom.us/j/92185474101.

We encourage you to ask us anything about the position! You will be a part of a small, yet mighty, team so it's important that you are comfortable with us from the start.

Sincerely,

Alerie Flandez, Academic Advisor & Peer Advisor Supervisor

Noe Recendiz, CE major and Peer Advisor Leader
Sarah Chou, CE major and Peer Advisor Leader

Alyssa Carlos, ISE major and Peer Advisor
Faizan Nomani, ME major and Peer Advisor
Eloisa Difuntorum, EE major and Peer Advisor
