Zen and Tea Learning

Text and Images from Slide

A student usually interfaces with the iemoto through his or her relationship with a licensed teacher. The teacher's group of students is called his or her shachu—a word also used to designate the supporters of a shrine.

A Caucasian man wearing a blue kimono and a black kimono jacket sits next to a Japanese woman in a light green kimono and a colorful obi. They are sitting on a tatami mat in front of a Japanese scroll. He has a mustache and wears glasses. She has short black hair and smiles slightly. They are teachers of tea ritual.
