What do we do?
The Psychophysiology/Stress Management
Program provides training in biofeedback, stress management therapy,
peak performance training that is useful in work, recreation, and
sport settings. We give you individual attention and use modern,
sophisticated scientific equipment. You receive individual attention
from the staff which is comprised of San Jose State University Human
Performance faculty, graduates, and graduate students.
The Psychophysiology/Stress Management
Program is part of one of three centers in the Physical Performance
Institute. It is conveniently located in Los Gatos in an 11,000
square foot facility which houses modern, high-tech equipment for
testing and rehabilitation.
How much will testing and
training cost?
Cost of testing and consultation varies depending of the specific
tests or package chosen. Call us for more information or to make an

Ergonomics:
Injury Prevention
This training will help you develop ergonomically correct posture,
position, and movements to help prevent injury in tasks. EMG and
respiratory feedback training help you develop kinesthetic awareness.
You can develop psychophysiological control and somatic awareness by
training with multiple modalities (e.g., EMG, heart rate). Skills
training helps you overcome fixed positions, repetitive strain,
muscle atrophy, and inappropriate and misplaced bracing. Programs
that relate to ergonomic include:
- Ergonomic Evaluation
- Dynamic Movement Patterns
- Repetitive Strain Injury Prevention
- Strengthening and Flexibility Exercises
- Task Variation
- Dynamic Relaxation
- Imagery
- Work/rest Cycles: Micro and Macro Breaks
- Diaphragmatic Breathing
- Symmetrical Task Performance
- Vision Exercises
- Training in Psychophysiological Control
- Mind/body Link (role of thoughts and feelings)
- Individual Predisposition
- External Causes and Control
- Self-responsibility and Control
- Life-long Skills
- Relaxation Training
- Individual and Corporate Control
- Social Support from Co-workers and Supervisors
- Incorporating Healthy Behavioral Practices into Job
