INTERPRETIVE AND ACTION PAPER

The purpose of this assignment is to provide you with the opportunity to link practice and theory. To do so, you have to research how theory can help you first, to have a better understanding (perspective) of one of the issues (communication strength, communication problem, or communication need) discussed in your Diagnosis Paper; and second, design an action plan to promote institutional change. 

Moreover, this assignment will help you become familiar with the professional journals in the field of Organizational Communication and with the current research purposes, methods, and findings. 

To complete this assignment you have to do the following:

    First, select one of the communication issues (major communication strength, major communication problem, or major communication need) that you identified and described in the "Diagnosis Paper.     

    Second, read 2 research articles from Academic Journals that relate to the communication issue that you have selected in step 1.You might select articles from any social science journal (communication, business, psychology, etc.). (The names of Journals that might be used for this assignment will be provided in class)

1. Start with a very brief purpose statement of the paper and preview main points.

2. Discuss the four (4) most important insights (the new perspective) that you have gained on the communication issue selected after reading the two sources ( 2 Research Articles). What are the insights that you consider to be most relevant for you to have a better understanding of the issue and to guide the design of the course of action for promoting organizational change. (2 pages, 7 points) (cite sources in text). 

3. Describe the action plan (new ways of doing) for the community organization you selected to change the communication problem, to maintain the communication strength, or to implement the communication need. The action plan should include the steps to follow. (1 page, 4 points) (cite sources in text).

4. Discuss three major personal changes that you have experienced doing the service-learning component of this class or writing the first and second paper. (1 page, 4 points)

5. List references or sources in page 5.
