SHARING YOUR MOST MEANINGFUL LEARNING EXPERIENCE
IN COMMUNICATION STUDIES - Oral Presentation.

PURPOSE: The purpose of this ORAL PRESENTATION is first, to share with your senior classmates ONE of the most meaningful (life-giving) LEARNING COMMUNICATION EXPERIENCE IN THE MAJOR (related to the areas of Fundation (theory), Research, or Practice courses). Second, to enhance your presentational communication skills. Third, this assignment is designed to emphasize that our different and distinctive learning communication experiences do account as legitimate sources of knowledge, and therefore we can learn from each other.

TOPIC:
You are free to select any learning communication experience for your presentation. Look for the most meaningful one (mainly positive or negative (but life-giving).

CONTENT AND STRUCTURE: The content of of the body of your presentation should be structured in three sections:
1) Description of the learning experience: briefly describe the learning communication experience: the context (course, assignment, project, etc.) and what happened...

2) Theoretical Explanation:

a) Your own theory and name it: provide your explanation (your own theory) why the experience was so meaningful to you. Explain the factors or components that contributed to make the learning experience so meaningful. Explain what you did and what other people did (teacher, clasmates, etc.). Explain the theoretical relationships you discovered, and the consequences or implications. 

b) Other communication theory: Provide another theory that you learned in communication courses that support your own theory and cite properly the sources. (cite sources here).

3) Three major learnings: Tell us what learned in terms of a) Theory; b) Research, and Practice. (Report only three (3) majors learnings: one from each area or from two areas or from one area).

WRITTEN OUTLINE: The content of your oral presentation must be summarized in TWO-TYPED-PAGES, FULL-SENTENCES AND 1.5 SPACE. The basic structure of this outline must contained: (Include the following section titles in written outline): WRITE the titles of these sections in your OUTLINE.
I. Introduction: 1. Attention Getter, 2. Purpose and Topic, and 3. Preview only Titles of the main points of your presentation: (a) Description of experience; b) Theoretical explanation , and c) Learnings).
II. Body: 1) Description of the experience. 2) Theoretical Explanation: a) Your own theory, b) Other Communication theory. 3) Learnings (three (3) majors learnings).
III. Conclusion: 1. Summary (Restate only titles of the main points of the body of your presentation: a) Description of experience, b) Theoretical explanation, c) Learnings), and 2. Final Thought.


Cite also sources in outline and list them in page 3; using APA or MLA citation system. One citation from textbook or other sources is required.

The oral presentation must emphasized: 1) Content relevance and organization, 2) Physical delivery skills (eye contact, gestures, dynamism); 3) Vocal delivery skills (volume, and rate); and 4) Visual aids (One visual aid is required). The oral presentation should be 10 minutes and after the presentation 10 minutes to entertain some questions from your classmates.
