Week 5 (9/27/05 and 9/29/05)

  1. Scheduling - There is a MUSE Workshop I'd like us all to attend. This occurs on 10/6 from noon to 1, so I'm going to suggest we move the midterm back one week to 10/13.  Study session this Saturday (10/1 @ 10:30) stays remains the same. The MUSE workshop is called "Moving from High School Grad to Educated Citizen - How Does That Happen?"   2. Reading schedule - On Th 9/15, I assigned 20 pages of reading per day, 6 days a week. A calendar chart showing your progress is linked here
  3. 19th century epidemics 
    1. "Until the 1880's and even later there was firmly implanted in both the lay and the medical mind the idea that disease was caused by dirt" (Rosen, 1993, p. 222)
    2. We should know the cause and transmission of these agent, so I've begun to build a table that describes these problems: click here.
