Bzou: another name for a werewolf. Unlike the traditional Perrault or Grimm Brothers version, the "wolf" in this story is half-man and half-wolf. Also the fact that the author calls him "the bzou," as opposed to "a bzou," is significant because it indicates that there is only one bzou in the area or perhaps everyone in the town is aware that there are bzous on the road.
