What happens after submitting an application
Fall 2020 - Spring 2021
File a 2020-2021 FAFSA or Dream Act application; the application opened up in October 2019. Don't delay!
Process for Fall 2020-Spring 2021, will begin late January to early February, 2020. It is important to periodically view your MySJSU. If selected for verification, deadline dates will be provided in your Acknwledgement Letter
After submitting an application, students will:
- receive a Student Aid Report (SAR) from FAFSA or from CSAC (California Student Aid Commission),
- receive an Acknowledgement Letter (DRL) from the Financial Aid and Scholarship Office acknowledging that SJSU has received your FAFSA or Dream Act Application. The letter also provides important instructions and deadline dates.
Contact the Financial Aid and Scholarship Office if an Acknowledgement Letter is not received within 1-2 weeks after submission; sent to your MySJSU (408-283-7500 or email@example.com).
Students selected for verification will have items placed in their MySJSU To-Do List.
For students selected for verification, submit documents by the deadline date provided in the Acknowledgement letter to be considered for maximum funding.
Tuition Fee Deferral
If you were selected for verification, you must complete all requested financial aid documents by the following submission deadline date(s) to qualify for a tuition fee deferral. Students not meeting the deadline MUST pay their registration fees from their own resources by the payment deadline.
Spring 2020 - Friday, December 6, 2019
Financial aid applications received after the above due dates will NOT receive a tuition fee deferral. Students not selected for verification will receive a tuition fee deferral if the financial aid application is completed prior to the above due dates.
