About Hospitality, Tourism & Event Management

Students in the Bachelor of Science in Hospitality, Tourism and Event Management program at SJSU enjoy the flexibility to choose the courses that will best prepare them to work in the hospitality and tourism industry. This interdisciplinary degree allows students to choose from courses in the department, or to complete supporting coursework from SJSU's business and nutrition programs. SJSU is ranked as one of the top hospitality programs in California (collegefactual.com), and students work in internships in a range of functions as part of their degree program.

Tourism and hospitality continues to be one of the world’s fastest-growing sectors, reaching about $1.6 trillion in 2017 and supporting about 7.6 million jobs in the U.S. Given that California is the top tourism destination in the country, it comes as little surprise to learn that 95 percent of the state’s hospitality and tourism students study at a California State University campus. Students enjoy visits from industry and opportunities to network with professionals, preparing them for opportunities to pursue internships and other work experience.
