Richard joined the H&A Student Success Center in November 2018. He earned his B.A. in Linguistics from San Jose State University and is currently the M.A. Linguistics program at San Jose State University.

Prior to joining the H&A Student Success Center, Richard served as an Academic Peer Advisor in the Humanities and the Arts Student Success Center from 2015 to 2017. He then transitioned to the Writing Center for the 2017-2018 school year as the Administrative Support Coordinator where he assisted in the Writing Center's transition into one of the largest University Writing Centers in the state of California. 

Richard also served as the founder and Program Manager of the Veterans Affair Hospital's Palo Alto Youth Volunteer Program from 2012-2017, where he directed the program's direction, working with hospital leadership to grow a program starting with 60 students to over 120 students in his final year.

Richard believes everyone has a set of qualities that are neither a strength or weakness, and that anyone can succeed when put into a context that allows them to bring out their creative genius. Richard encourages everyone to always explore the gray areas in-between the black and white.
