Who Can Apply?

Conditional admission is available to students who want to earn a bachelor or master degree at San Jose State University. There are different eligibility requirements for undergraduate and graduate applicants.

 

Undergraduate Freshman Undergraduate Transfer Graduate

You may apply as an undergraduate (first-time freshman) only if:

  • you need an F-1 visa to study in the USA
  • you have graduated or will graduate from a secondary school or high school
  • your grades are equal to an American GPA of 3.0 or higher out of 4.0
  • you have passed three years of college preparatory mathematics

You may apply as an undergraduate (transfer student) only if:

  • you need a F-1 visa to study in the USA
  • you have graduated from a secondary school or high school
  • your secondary or high school grades are equal to an American GPA of 3.0 or higher out of 4.0
  • you have passed three years of college preparatory mathematics
  • you have completed less than 60 transferable units of coursework at an accredited college or university
  • your college or university grades are equal to an American GPA of 2.5 or higher out of 4.0

You may apply as a graduate only if:

  • you need an F-1 visa to study in the USA
  • you have graduated or will graduate from an accredited 4-year college or university
  • your college or university grades are equal to an American GPA of 2.5 or higher out of 4.0
