Summer in Silicon Valley
Summer in Silicon Valley 2020 program has been postponed to Summer 2021 due COVID-19.
Experience design, innovation, and entrepreneurship in the heart of Silicon Valley. Offered in collaboration with faculty from the Charles W. Davidson College of Engineering at SJSU, Summer in Silicon Valley (SSV) is for international engineering students interested in gaining experience in design and technology in the heart of global technology. This program is perfect for students who want to have a hands-on experience solving technological problems while learning about cutting-edge innovations available in Silicon Valley.
Learn from industry experts, network with Silicon Valley professionals, explore the San Francisco Bay Area and gain valuable experience with participants from around the world.
Think creatively and critically to develop innovative project designs. Collaborate with other international participants and SJSU student mentors to develop a creative product or solution to a current tech problem. Team projects will be judged by SJSU professors and industry experts in a final competition.
July 6, 2020 - July 24, 2020
Students will live in SJSU campus dormitories.
Students may check into campus housing on July 5, 2020, and will depart on July 25, 2020. If participants choose to arrive early or stay after the end of the program, they will be responsible for securing their own accommodation.
Who Can Participate
Summer in Silicon Valley is designed for undergraduate students majoring in Engineering with a working knowledge of English. The program is geared towards participants who are motivated to learn, open to different ideas and seeking new experiences.
Program participants will receive an invitation letter from International Gateways.
The application deadline is Friday, April 24, 2020. Late applications will not be accepted.
The program fee is $4,500 per participant. Price includes program materials, double occupancy housing, meals, SJSU ID Card, a local transportation pass, airport transfer and entrance fees for site visits and cultural trips.
A group of 15 or more participants needs to be accompanied by a chaperone. The cost per chaperone is $2250. This includes housing, airport transfers, transportation and entrance fees for site visits and cultural trips.
The program fees are refundable only if the participants cannot obtain a visa to enter the United States. The request for refund must be completed by May 15, 2020. After May 30, 2020, the program fees are non-refundable.
