Summer in Silicon Valley
Experience design, innovation, and entrepreneurship in the heart of Silicon Valley. Offered in collaboration with the College of Professional and Global Education, Summer in Silicon Valley (SSV) is for international undergraduate students interested in gaining experience in innovative design and technology in the heart of global innovation. This program is perfect for students who want to have hands-on experience solving technological problems, all while using some of the most cutting-edge innovations available in Silicon Valley.
As a part of the program participants will prepare to compete in the Silicon Valley Innovation Challenge (SVIC) in the Fall. This is an open competition for International Students to work with SJSU partners and learn from industry experts, network with Silicon Valley professionals, explore the San Francisco Bay Area and gain global experience with participants from around the world.
Learn from Silicon Valley professionals and instructors with practical experience in product innovation, technology, engineering entrepreneurship, and multicultural education.
Think creatively and critically to develop innovative project designs. Collaborate with other international participants and SJSU student mentors to develop a product or solution to a current tech problem. Team projects will be judged by SJSU professors and industry experts in a final competition.
Explore Silicon Valley companies that have made a significant impact on the world
today. Previous participants have visited Facebook, Google, Intel, Cisco and Apple
Experience life in the San Francisco Bay Area with a series of trips to famous destinations. Enjoy learning about American culture and taking part in memorable activities.
- Attend lectures and workshops by industry experts from Silicon Valley
- Participate in team activities
- Work on projects with assigned SJSU student team member or mentor
- Visit Silicon Valley Hotspots and Companies through fun field trips
- Participate in a competitive culminating project
- Use the access to Canvas (LMS system used by SJSU) to work on projects and collaborate with other participants
- Receive a Certificate of completion at the end of the program
- Become eligible to participate in Silicon Valley Innovation Challenge (SVIC) upon full completion of program
- Receive support with completing proposal to submit to SVIC

Who Can Participate
Summer in Silicon Valley is designed for undergraduate students interested in developing their entrepreneurship and design thinking skills, with a working knowledge of English. The program is geared towards participants who are motivated to learn, open to different ideas and seeking new experiences.
Price includes program materials, housing, transportation, access to the LMS system and material one month after the program end date.
Large cohorts from universities and programs that like to participate in this event are welcome.
