Professor Bio
Karin Jeffery has worked as a group exercise instructor, exercise program manager, and personal trainer. She also spent over 15 years with the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society’s Team in Training program, coaching for their cycling, mountain bike, duathlon, and triathlon teams. In 2006, wanting to learn more about coaching, she entered SJSU’s Kinesiology graduate program with a Sport Psychology emphasis. She also began teaching KIN 69 (Stress Management). In 2010 she moved to Florida to earn her doctorate in Sport Psychology at Florida State University. While at FSU she worked closely with the Student Veterans Center under the direction of Col. William "Billy" Francis.
Karin returned to SJSU in 2015, where she now teaches KIN 69 (Stress Management), KIN/HS 169 (Diversity, Stress, & Health), KIN 175 (Measurement & Evaluation), KIN 185 (Senior Seminar), and KIN 180 (Independent Study). The daughter of a Navy veteran, she is honored to also serve as Project Coordinator for VET Connect (Veterans Embracing Transition) , working with Dr. Elena Klaw at the SJSU Center for Community Learning and Leadership (CCLL).
Karin is a competitive powerlifter and powerlifting referee for the USAPL and USPA. She also serves as faculty adviser, along with Dr. Gong Chen, to the Kinesiology Ambassador's Club (KAC). In her spare time, she likes to read, watch superhero movies, and take naps with her dog.
