Rachel Jebasingam Major: Business Administration with a Concentration in Corporate Accounting and Finance
Which student organization are you a member of a student involvement experience? I have been a member of Management Information Systems Association (MISA) since I
was a freshman at San Jose State. I currently serve as the Vice President of Events,
where I enjoy coordinating all MISA events for the school year. This club has allowed
me to network with business and tech industry professionals, and befriend a group
of hardworking students.
Why did you become a peer leader? I became a Peer Leader in order to aid the freshmen class with academic advice and
information within the LCoB. I hope to give them a better understanding on how to
navigate through college academically and socially!
What advice do you have for incoming students? Always ask for help! Don't be afraid to ask for assistance on any university topic
(especially in the beginning of your college career). It’s super normal to have questions,
and our school provides a great supply of resources for any subject matter.
Tammy Lam Major: Corporate Accounting and Finance and minor in Economics
Have you had an internship? If so, which company? Assurance Internship at EY (Ernst & Young) in Summer 2022
Why did you become a peer leader? I wanted to help people and share my experiences. There are some things that I wish
I had known before or earlier. I feel like I did not take advantage of many SJSU resources
and wanted to expose students to the resources that SJSU offers early on.
What advice do you have for incoming students? Use Google Calendar or a planner to keep track of your assignments! Write down due
dates and exam dates the first day you get your syllabus so you can plan out when
to study and prepare. If you have three finals on the same day, you can choose to
move one as long as you notify your professor ahead of time.
Nicolette Paredes Major: Management
I am currently a part of the Latino Business Student Association! High recommend it
if you are looking to make friends and develop your professional skills! With that,
I would advise all students to step out of their comfort zones because you never know
what you could be missing.
Alisha Singh Major: BSBA with a concentration in management
Have you had an internship? If so, which company? I interned with SiriusXM in the summer of 2022 as a Podcast marketing and partnership
intern.
Which student organization are you a member of a student involvement experience? I have been an active member of HerCampus in the past.
Why did you become a peer leader? I want to be more involved with the community and build my network. Becoming a peer
leader will also allow me to help SJSU students navigate any challenges they might
have.
What advice do you have for incoming students? It's easier than it seems on days. SJSU has all the resources you need to easily navigate
through it all. Be sure to make good use of them all!
