What's your favorite part of your job?

The best part of working as an academic advisor is hands down the relationships with students. I value each student for their individual interests, strengths, and passions, and love working together with students as they navigate their time in college. Those conversations and relationships are what get me up every morning and make each day unique and special.

How do you approach advising students?

My approach to working with students is based on two values: equity and collaboration. I view advising and my work as an advisor through the lens of racial and social justice and incorporate that mindset into every interaction and decision I make. Similarly, I treat relationships with students as mutual partnerships where my goal is to provide resources while the student creates their own path.

What is your favorite book?

The Bluest Eye by Toni Morrison
What is your favorite TV show? Right now it is The Great British Baking Show!

What do you like to do outside of work?

I love to be with family, go swimming, cook/bake, read, play ultimate frisbee, and cheer on the UNC Tarheels!
