Biography
Born in Antwerp, Belgium, Scott Krijnen was raised in an environment of music, conducting and education. It is with great joy that he gets to continue to grow in these arts everyday in and throughout the Bay Area. After a Master’s in Cello Performance from the San Francisco Conservatory, he enjoyed the world of performance with chamber music bringing him to Europe, Taiwan and Korea and then home in San José with the Silicon Valley Symphony as principal cellist. As a conductor, he has lead the orchestras of Summer in the City at San José State University, Summer Music at Redwood, and worked with Michael Boitz at Saratoga High School. As an educator, Scott is in his 8th year of teaching at Castillero Middle School, winning teacher of the year recognition in 2011, at Redwood Middle School, coaching and conducting at Saratoga High School, and has for 9 years been a coach with PACO during the regular season and at camp. Not only does he have the good fortune of a terrific career in music and education, Scott is happily married to his wife of nine years, Aryn, and is the father of two beautiful children who get to grow up in the same wonderful world of music.
