David Stein's musical contribution to the community is prolific and diverse. He has recorded four CDs for ballet class for the company Inspired By, and has accompanied classes at San José State University, Stanford University, Santa Clara University, Foothill College, Zohar School of Dance, Western Ballet, Silicon Valley Ballet, and Oregon Ballet Theatre, and has been a guest accompanist for American Ballet Theatre, Hubbard Street Dancers, Twyla Tharp, San Francisco Ballet, Margaret Wingrove Dance Company, Ballet Nuevo Mundo, Pennsylvania Ballet, and others. In addition to his current position at San José State, he is a founding member and cellist of the Jasmine String Quartet as well as a Worship and Music Assistant at 1st Baptist Church of Los Altos. He is the accompanist for Symphony Silicon Valley Chorale, a freelance accompanist, and he maintains a private studio of fifteen students. In the past, he has held positions as Principal Cellist for Monterey County Symphony and as Musical Director for Palo Alto Children's Theatre and West Valley Light Opera.
