About

Edmund Tang is the Director of Packaging and an associate professor of Packaging in the Department of Nutrition, Food Science, and Packaging at SJSU. He received his B.S. and M.S. in the Industrial Engineering (ISE) Department at SJSU with a concentration on supply chain and packaging. For his master’s project, he collaborated with Hewlett Packard (HP) to develop a testing method to correlate Damage Boundary Testing (product fragility) to the supply chain to achieve the optimal shipping configuration for printers. Edmund also continues to work at Westpak Inc., an industry leading product and packaging testing facility as a mentor to less experienced engineers. He regularly presents research at the ISTA meetings on Distribution and Transportation stress analysis.

About

Fritz Yambrach, Ph.D. completed his PhD at University of Buffalo SUNY, an MBA at Utah State University and a BS in Packaging Engineering at Michigan State University and another BS in Marketing at Utah State University. Before coming to SJSU he taught at the Rochester Institute of Technology (RIT) in Rochester, New York in the Department of Packaging Science as a Tenured Full Professor. In addition, Dr. Yambrach served as Director of the Integrated Plastics Center at RIT (2004-2005) promoting undergraduate research. Dr. Yambrach's area of focus relates to pharmaceutical and medical product package design. He has served as a consultant to 20 major companies including Johnson and Johnson, Amgen, Bausch and Lomb, as well as Campbell's and Kraft Foods.
