TEAS Information for BSN Admission

The TEAS exam with a minimum score of 84% or better is required for admission to the BSN program. Version 7 is preferred. SJSU Testing offers the TEAS exam on campus and it is open to everyone. Please visit their website for more information.

Starting in Fall 2024, TEAS exams must be taken within five years of application.

• Only two attempts are allowed.

  • A total of two attempts are allowed. Attempts do not expire. The highest score of the first two attempts will be used.

• Must meet minimum score of 84% to be considered

  • Applications with a TEAS score lower than 84% will not be evaluated. 

• In-person exams are preferred and offered at SJSU.

  • It is strongly encouraged to take the test in-person. Visit the ATI Testing website to find an approved site. 

    The SJSU testing office offers the TEAS version 6.0 or 7.0 for students applying to any nursing program, including SJSU. Please visit the testing office website to register for a test date at SJSU. Applicants may take the TEAS exam at other locations. The nursing office will accept remote TEAS taken through approved ATI testing locations.

• TEAS Helpful Info

  • A competitive overall TEAS score is 90% or higher. The nursing department does not enforce a minimum time requirement between repeated TEAS tests. We encourage enough time between tests to study and improve. Study guides are available online at the ATI website.

Submitting Your TEAS Score

Applicants do not need to send scores through ATI to SJSU. Please upload a copy of your TEAS score to your NursingCAS application by the deadline.
