Bio

Earl Gee is Partner and Creative Director, with Fani Chung, of Gee + Chung Design, an award-winning multidisciplinary brand communications firm in San Francisco, creating intelligent, innovative, and compelling design solutions which provide strategic value to clients. His firm creates branding, print, packaging, environmental, and interactive programs for many of Silicon Valley’s most influential companies including Adobe, Apple, Applied Materials, IBM, Oracle, National Semiconductor, Symantec, and Sun, enabling complex technology to be understandable, meaningful, and memorable to audiences. 

Earl has lectured at leading universities and design organizations across the country and served as a juror for major design competitions including Communication Arts, Creativity, Spark, Critique, STEP, Publish, and Exhibitor. He was selected as one of Graphic Design USA’s 50 “Most Influential Graphic Designers Working Today” and “People to Watch in 2010,” and was one of 50 U.S. graphic designers selected for the international edition of Who’s Who in Graphic Design. He has served on the board of the San Francisco chapter of AIGA, the professional association for design, and was recognized as a prestigious AIGA San Francisco Fellow in 2015. He was also recognized as a Design Master by Graphis, the leading international journal of visual communication, in 2017. 

Under Earl’s creative direction, Gee + Chung Design has won awards from AIGA, Communication Arts, Graphis, Print, HOW, Art Directors Club, Type Directors Club, One Show, Society of Publication Designers, Society for Experiential Graphic Design, and University & College Designers Association. His work has been exhibited internationally and is in the permanent collections of the U.S. Library of Congress, AIGA Archives, and ArtCenter College of Design Archives. Earl began his career as a designer at Landor Associates in San Francisco and senior designer at Mark Anderson Design in Palo Alto. He received his BFA with Distinction in Graphic Design/Packaging from ArtCenter College of Design and was included in Design Impact: A History of ArtCenter College of Design.
