Bio

Dr. Gonzales is a tenured Full Professor in the College of Applied Sciences and Arts in the School of Nursing. She has been a Registered Nurse for over 30 years, and a Nurse Practitioner for over 25 years. As a bilingual master educator and with an expertise in Pediatrics and Advanced Practice Nursing, she has served the international community by taking students to Peru where she developed and managed an emergency health clinic for orphans and other children at risk. She was awarded the title of -Global Fellow- in 2004 for her efforts. In addition to her publications and grants, she has compiled an impressive local, national, and international presentation record in the areas of childrens health and international service learning. She has an expertise in instructional technology and online education, has taught several online classes and has developed and managed her own website as a resource for her students. Dr. Gonzales has served the students as faculty advisor for the Hispanic Student Nurses Association. She has served the School of Nursing as Director of the Family Nurse Practitioner Program; as interim Graduate Coordinator, as Coordinator of the Assessment Technologies Institute Program (ATI), and as chair and/or member of over 10 departmental committees. At the College level she has served on the Academic Integrity Advisory Board, and at the University level, she has served on the Academic Senate and the Instruction and Student Affairs Policy Committee.
