Bio
I study how socio-technical systems shape young people’s development. In particular, I ask: How might we design emerging technologies to support early adolescent development among youth ages 8–14 in informal, online, play-based communities?
I integrate Human-Computer Interaction (HCI), developmental science, and the learning sciences in my work. Methodologically, I draw on mixed methods and design-based research approaches. Central to my work is a commitment to community-engaged research and research-practice partnerships with youth-serving communities.
Through this work, I aim to advance understanding of how emerging technologies can be designed in ways that support young people’s development and learning.
