I am a professor emeritus in the Department of Meteorology and Climate Science at San Jose State University. I served as the department chair from 2019-2021. I was also the Director of the Center for Applied Atmospheric Research and Education (CAARE) from 2015 to 2021. CAARE was a NASA MUREP funded center established in 2015. The main research thrusts include: Urban heat island (UHI) and Climate Variability; Aerosol and its Impacts on Air Quality, Weather and Regional Climate; Wildfire Impacts on Air Quality; and Public Health linkages to Air Quality, Weather and Climate. Undergrad and grad students are involved in research activities. Summer short courses, internships and symposium are being offered constantly.
