The Bay Area Council sits at the intersection of business and civic leadership and works to ensure that the Bay Area is the best place to live and work. President Papazian serves on its Board of Directors, where she joins other regional leaders committed to keeping the Bay Area the most innovative, globally competitive, inclusive and sustainable region in the world.

Joint Venture Silicon Valley

Joint Venture Silicon Valley provides analysis and action on issues affecting our region's economy and quality of life. The organization brings together established and emerging leaders—from business, government, academia, labor and the broader community—to spotlight issues and work toward innovative solutions. President Papazian serves on Joint Venture’s Board of Directors.

SJSU serves as the anchor institution for the City of San Jose, so we collaborate closely with our colleagues in City Hall to offer our expertise, diversity and energy to the City. Together, we share a collective commitment to build an inclusive and thriving City of which we can all be proud.

Silicon Valley Leadership Group

President Papazian serves on the Board of Directors for the Silicon Valley Leadership Group (SVLG), a public policy association of more than 360 dynamic companies and organizations shaping the future innovation economy of Silicon Valley, the Bay Area, and the nation. Her role ensures that SJSU will have a strong and consistent voice on regional issues important to the university and campus community.

The Silicon Valley Organization (SVO)

SVO is the region’s largest Chamber of Commerce and serves to attract, uplift and protect its members through visibility, community engagement, economic development and advocacy. Members of President Papazian’s cabinet sit on SVO’s Board of Directors, and the President herself has participated in SVO’s annual study mission and other activities.

SPUR (San Francisco Bay Area Planning and Urban Research Association)

SPUR is a member-supported non-profit organization that promotes good planning and government in San Jose and other parts of the Bay Area. As part of its mission to play a role in shaping the City and region’s future, SJSU and President Papazian have participated in SPUR’s “Drinks and Discourse” series, led tours for SPUR members of the SJSU campus and engaged in other key meetings and SPUR initiatives.
