Senior Director, Academic Budgets and Administration Search

Position Profile:

The Senior Director for Academic Budgets and Administration works under the general direction of the Senior Vice Provost for Academic Affairs, functioning with autonomy and oversight of the academic affairs budget and administrative operations for the Office of the Provost. Work includes strategic financial modeling, events and special initiatives, project management, and guiding the work of others in the following four broad areas: Effective and ethical steward of all fiscal resources of the Academic Affairs Division (AAD) including operating funds, self-support funding, student fees, lottery, trust funds, and donations (Tower Foundation). Support the deans and associate vice presidents in the division with the allocation of resources to support their operations and the strategic goals and priorities of the unit, division, and university. Oversee division policies and serve as approving official with delegated authority such as travel, wireless device allowances, trust fund agreements, and others. Oversee administrative activities within the Office of the Provost that includes the direct supervision of key office personnel who work on a wide variety of events, programs, activities, and special projects as assigned. Liaison with other key budget personnel in the Office of the Vice President for Research and Innovation (VPRI) and the Office of the Chief Financial Officer (CFO) as appropriate to ensure timely flow of funds related to activities such as research start-up funds or strategic investments for campus priorities, for example. The incumbent in this position has access to confidential information which involves developing, preparing, and implementing resource-related decisions
used by the senior vice provost, provost, and other academic leaders, and consults with them for determining the division position on sensitive organizational development and financial management issues. The incumbent also works broadly with the university’s managers, deans, analysts, and staff throughout the university, including other divisions, to ensure that Academic Affairs budgeting and resource allocation processes are managed successfully to accomplish the university’s goals and strategies.
