Director of Sponsored Programs, San José State University Research Foundation
Samantha Kerath is the Director of Sponsored Programs at the SJSU Research Foundation.
Prior to joining the SJSU Research Foundation, Samantha worked with the Institute
for Bioelectronic Medicine at the Feinstein Institutes for Medical Research, the research
arm of the Northwell Health system, the largest healthcare provider in New York State.
In this role, she provided administrative leadership for 15 scientific labs, including
sponsored partnerships, grantsmanship, operations, financial management, compliance,
and project implementation. As part of the Office of Intellectual Assets Management,
she provided oversight of faculty and industry-initiated contracting, including clinical
trial agreements, MTAs, NDAs, and sponsored research agreements.
Samantha holds a Master’s degree in Biomedical Anthropology from Binghamton University, and a Master’s degree in Research Administration from Johns Hopkins University. She began her career at SJSU in the summer of 2020.
In this role, Samantha’s goal is to foster an environment of support for the University research community by developing strategic plans and implementing programs to increase external funding and contract support for faculty, in alignment with the Division of Research and Innovation vision for RSCA at SJSU. She leads the Office of Sponsored Programs (OSP), which includes Proposal Development, Awards Management, Grants Compliance, Self-Support Programs, and Research Communications.
