Two Student Research, Scholarship, and Creative Activity (RSCA) Opportunities

Dear Students and Faculty,

I am pleased to announce two opportunities for San José State University (SJSU) students who want to participate in faculty-led Research, Scholarship, and Creative Activity (RSCA) at SJSU.

SJSU Student RSCA Grant Initiative
The new SJSU Student RSCA Grant Initiative is replacing the former Undergraduate Research Grant program. The new initiative is for both undergraduate and graduate students and is designed to support students engaged in RSCA with a faculty mentor by providing funding for student assistantships and RSCA supplies or virtual conference attendance for students during the period from April 2021 through May 2022.  Eligible projects are those associated with a currently funded faculty-led grant (extramural or internal RSCA) for work conducted remotely or as part of an approved RSCA Project Plan under SJSU’s RSCA Adapt Plan.  Student awardees and their faculty mentors commit to working together on advancing their RSCA objectives and to participating in monthly meetings with other awardees, and providing “Student RSCA in Five Minute” presentations at least once per funding period.  Applications are due on February 15, 2021.

SJSU Student RSCA Competition / CSU Student Research Competition
The annual Student Research Competition will now be known as the SJSU Student RSCA Competition. This opportunity allows graduate and undergraduate students to present their original RSCA and compete for selection as SJSU representatives at both SJSU’s Celebration of Research on April 29, 2021, and as finalists at the statewide 35th Annual California State University (CSU) Student Research Competition, hosted virtually by Cal Poly Pomona, April 30-May 1, 2021.  Applications are due on February 15, 2021

I hope that all our students take advantage of these exciting opportunities in support of their RSCA.  Please contact officeofresearch@sjsu.edu with any questions.

Best wishes to all.
