RSCA in Five: Faculty Short Talks
RSCA in Five: Faculty Short Talks foster a spirit of cross-campus collaboration among SJSU faculty. We invite RSCA in Five talks (five minutes, five slides) that address the featured topic directly as well as those that address assumptions and/or limitations with methods of determining knowledge about the topic. Talks are held quarterly on the first Friday of the month from 10:30 am to 1 pm.
Health Equity and Health Technology - September 3, 10:30 am to 1 pm
When it comes to the human experience, what is not about health? Despite the rapid evolution of pharmaceutical sciences, surgery systems, alternative therapies, health technology, and integrative medicine, there remain massive gaps in health outcomes across communities large and small. We welcome faculty speakers from SJSU to share their RSCA on this topic.
Black Scholars Matter - December 3, 10:30 am to 1 pm
Across the American higher education landscape, Black/African American faculty members are underrepresented in tenure track/tenured positions, and overrepresented in contingent faculty positions. Tenure at many American universities is often decided on a faculty member's RSCA productivity. The Office of Research at SJSU is committed to supporting the research agendas of its Black/African American faculty to ensure successful tenure & promotion. We are also committed to positioning our lecturers to be competitive for tenure track positions at SJSU and beyond. This event aims to highlight the scholarly activities of Black/African American faculty at SJSU, foster discussion, and encourage RSCA collaboration across disciplines. We invite RSCA talks by Black/African American faculty representing a wide range of academic disciplines (STEM, Humanities and the Arts, Social Sciences, Business, Education etc.).
