Giving to the Spartan Athletics Fund
Benefits
When you make a gift between July 1, 2018 – June 30, 2019, your benefits will be activated for the 2019 – 2020 athletics season (July 1, 2019 – June 30, 2020). If this is your first gift to Spartan Athletics, you will receive benefits at your gift level for the remainder of the 2018 – 2019 athletics season.
All donations to the Spartan Athletics Fund are tax-deductible, less the fair market value of the benefits received (per IRS regulations). Consult your tax advisor for specific questions regarding the deductibility of your gift.

History
When the Spartan Foundation was established in 1958, there was a profound need to provide supplemental resources to advance the objectives of the Athletics Department. The founders and original supporters were true pioneers, maintaining a vision that recognized the importance of philanthropy and the noble cause of supporting Spartan Athletics. Today, the need to provide philanthropic resources for our athletic programs is greater than ever before—and we are expanding opportunities for our studentathletes by creating the Spartan Athletics Fund. We will forever be grateful for the role the founders and other longtime supporters of the Spartan Foundation have played in making San José State Athletics what it is today!
The Tower Foundation of San Jose State is the official clearinghouse for all gifts to the university. In 2014, the university determined that all gifts to Athletics would be processed through the Tower Foundation like all other SJSU philanthropic gifts. As an independent legal entity, the Spartan Foundation became dormant without a need to have a separate foundation dedicated solely to the purpose of processing gifts to Athletics.
