SJSU Salzburg Fellows | Application

We are inviting applications from interested faculty, staff, and administrators to serve as SJSU Salzburg Fellows during 2017-2018.  This is a significant opportunity to broaden your understanding of global issues and to help globalize SJSU.

Fellows will attend an intensive week-long seminar of the Global Citizenship Alliance in July, 2017 with faculty and administrators from other US colleges & universities.  The seminar will be held in Potsdam, Germany (just outside of Berlin) and will explore ways to transform our institutions of higher education into “sites of global citizenship” that prepare people to be responsible global citizens.  This seminar addresses a variety of substantive topics, examines strategies for institutional change, and helps participants create a framework for institutional teams to design and plan global education initiatives specific to their own institutions.

Fellows are expected to serve for a 12-month period from Fall 2017–Spring 2018, including completion of collaborative projects to promote global citizenship, positively affect SJSU as a whole, and strengthen their abilities to live and work in a complex interconnected world.

Seminar costs (including program fee, lodging, and meals) are $2,500 per Fellow, while travel costs will probably be $1,500-$2,000 (round trip).  Fellows are responsible for secur-ing the funds to participate in this experience (although some financial support may be available from campus, external, or other sources) and for securing the approval of their immediate supervisors and the Provost's Office to attend the seminar, consistent with current CSU regulations regarding international travel.  They are also responsible for obtain-ing valid passports and appropriate visas (if required).

Online applications are due by Sunday, February 12, 2017.  Completing this application is easy, reliable, and completely secure.  Only materials submitted online will be accepted and it will help to prepare the required documents in advance so they can be easily uploaded. Prospective applicants are encouraged to review the general information on this website, including the SJSU Salzburg Video, before submitting an application.

Applications Due | Sunday 2/12/17 @ 11:59 PM
