Next Generation Science Standards

Attend a Next Generation Science Standards Workshop!

San José State University’s Science Education Program invites you to attend a workshop designed to examine the Next Generation Science Standards (NGSS). The main goal is to assist teachers as they prepare for the implementation of NGSS in their courses. We hope you will be able to attend this exciting endeavor co-led by Dr. Paula Messina, who was a member of the NGSS writing team, and is currently developing the NGSS Curriculum Framework for Achieve, Inc., in Washington D.C. She is a Professor of Geology & Science Education and a former high school teacher in the state of New York. Also, co-leading the workshop will be Dr. Elizabeth Walsh, Assistant Professor in Climate Science and Meteorology & Science Education with research expertise in designing materials that incorporate Common Core Standards into the science classroom.

The workshop is funded through the generous endowment - Professional Education Regional Services in Science Teaching (PERSIST) made possible by Professor Emerita, Jean Beard.
