Science Education Resource Center
What is SERC?
The Science Education Resource Center (SERC) at San José State University was established in 1958 and is a unique educational resource center that houses over 5,000 science resources in the thematic areas of Earth Science, Physical Science, and Life Science. SERC strives to facilitate the delivery of high quality, inquiry-based pre K-12 grade instruction and to supplement and enrich the science curriculum in the classrooms and out in the community. The users of SERC include in-service & pre-service teachers, SJSU students, staff and faculty. Patrons can check out science equipment, biofacts, books, DVDs and videos. They can also become certified in the SERC Wildlife Ambassador program which allows them to bring animals such as a tarantula, snake or tortoise into their classroom.
