Chair of the Council of Chairs
Dr. Colleen E. Haight has served as Chair of the Department of Economics since June 2016, and also served as Interim Chair of Urban and Regional Planning, and most recently, Interim Associate Dean of Undergraduate Education. She is excited to join the College of Social Sciences leadership team as the Chair of the Council of Chairs.
In this role she will serve as a liaison between the 11 departments in the college, Dean Walt Jacobs, Associate Deans Ron Rogers and Cami Johnson, College Academic Resources Manager Debbie Mullin, Director of the Academic Counseling Center for Excellence in the Social Sciences (ACCESS) Amy Leisenring, and Director of Development Daan Giron.
Dr. Haight joined the SJSU faculty in 2006 after earning her Ph.D. in Economics at George Mason University, and an MBA with a concentration in Finance from Notre Dame de Namur University. She has taught a variety of classes for both the undergraduate and graduate programs, and is passionate about student success. Her research focuses on applications of public choice theory to diverse topics, from business regulation to religious behavior.
