Summer is approaching, Spartans, and there are a lot of things happening. Graduation is upon us, and I look forward to seeing our graduates in their caps and gowns in a few weeks. It’s one of the best things about being on campus this time of year. Vacations are already on the books for a lot of you; if not, I hope you are able to make plans to get some R&R time in before fall semester starts. It will be here before we know it.

I’m excited to re-introduce you to the management team in University Personnel with an updated webpage that includes current photographs and information from our newest managers. Hopefully this will help you recognize us on campus - even if we have our masks on - and get a better understanding of what everyone oversees. I encourage you to reach out to me or anyone on the management team with questions or concerns about CSU/SJSU policies and the processes we have in place to implement them or about anything else that affects your employment here at SJSU.

Update to Your UP Representatives on the UP Website

The Your UP Representatives webpage has been updated to include the Location Code field. Please note, the Location Code does not always match your 4-digit extended ZIP. The Location Code is a PeopleSoft field that identifies the physical location of the department or office. The extended ZIP is used by Distribution Services to deliver your mail. The two are NOT interchangeable even though sometimes the values are the same.

CalPERS: Now Open For In-Person Pre-scheduled Appointments

You may also schedule a phone or video appointment to meet with a CalPERS representative from the comfort of your home.

How to Make an Appointment

1. Log in to myCalPERS
2. Select the Education tab
3. Select Appointments

You can also call CalPERS during business hours (Monday through Friday 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. at 888-CalPERS (888-225-7377).

Thinking of taking a vacation this summer? Can’t remember if you already used your personal holiday? Wondering how much sick leave you have?



Click the View My Leave Balances tile (search: leave) on one.SJSU to check your vacation, sick, personal holiday, state service and other balances.

1. Sick, Vacation and Personal Holiday balances are shown on the first tab
2. Comp Time, Holiday Credit, ADO, and other balances are shown on the second tab
3. State Service is shown on the third tab
4. Click the Graduated Vacation Chart hyperlink to view the max vacation allowed based on bargaining unit and years of service

Staff Council Social Fundraiser at Pizza My Heart

SJSU Staff Council invites you to a social fundraiser at Pizza My Heart on Thursday, May 12, 5 – 9 pm. Come meet fellow Spartans and support SJSU STAFF COUNCIL. 30% of proceeds will be donated to fund and support social activities/events for SJSU staff.

Join us for the first University Personnel Town Hall of 2022, open to all employees! We will discuss various processes, where they originate and the “whys” and “hows” that drive them.
