Good News I.png

We want to hear your good news!

University Personnel would like to highlight employee good news in our Well-being Wednesday newsletters. Please share your stories with us, send us photos of an activity you participated in, share "words of wisdom" from your kids, tell us what's been helping you cope through the shelter-in-place. During these trying times, it's important to find the good in things. Your stories can help us all do that.

Not sure what to share? Here are a few ideas to get you started: How are you balancing your time between work and home life?
  • How have you been staying active?
  • A big project that you procrastinated doing for months & finally finished.
  • Something your kids have been involved in.
  • A new volunteer opportunity; a new hobby.
  • You welcomed a new baby, got engaged, got married, or other life events.
  • An act of kindness that someone did for you or you did for someone else.

Lauren and Rigo Flores Wedding Portrait.jpg

I recently got married to my best friend and fellow SJSU staff member, Rigo Flores from New Student and Family Programs (NSFP). Despite the challenges of (re)planning with 4 versions of our guest list, 3 venues, and 2 different officiants, it turned out to be one special day!

We were reminded of how lucky we are to have such supportive friends and family members who found ways to celebrate us even if they could not be present in person as we originally had hoped.

While this may not have been our original "dream wedding," we couldn't imagine starting this chapter of our lives together in any other way - enjoying quality time, delicious food, and honoring our commitment to one another with our small group of immediate family and best friends with vaccinations and other COVID-cautious elements in the backyard of my childhood home.

Especially during these times, we have realized that finding the small moments of joy and hope in life is just as important as is leaning on your support network when challenges come your way.
