Bachelor of Arts in Geography
New students applying to San Jose State University can select the Geography major during the applications for admission process found at the main admissions page[BROKEN LINK]. Any enrolled student who wishes to declare as a Geography Major, in pursuit of the Bachelor of Arts in Geography degree, must contact the Department of Urban and Regional Planning Undergraduate Advisor to schedule an appointment.
Students should refer to the SJSU Catalog for a full breakdown of the 120 total units required to graduate.
Undergraduate Honors
Department Honors are awarded on the transcript when an undergraduate geography major earns a ‘B’ or higher grade in a graduate geography course.
Undergraduate Minors
The Department of Urban and Regional Planning offers three undergraduate minors in Geography, Geographic Information Science (GIS), or Urban Studies. To be awarded a minor, at least 12 units of coursework must be completely distinct and separate from the coursework in the major (University Policy S16-4).
