    　現在、日本で使う１９４５字の漢字は「常用漢字」である。このうち、小学校と中学校で教える漢字 を「教育漢字」という。１００６字ある。１９９０年に決まった。
    　クラークさんが日本語を勉強し始めた、と森さんが話していた。クラークさんは、４ヵ月ぐらい勉強してい る。一週間に６時間ぐらい勉強する。今までに１００字ぐらい漢字を覚えた。まだ新聞や雑誌を読むことは出来ない。漢字の量（りょう）がまだ少なすぎる。覚 えやすい漢字や覚えにくい漢字がある。クラークさんは、平仮名（ひらがな）と片仮名（カタカナ）は、もう全部覚えた。わりあい簡単だった。漢字も仮名も毎 日練習することが大切である。
