Vitae

As a commercial real estate professional, I bring 30 years of pragmatic real estate experience to the class room.  As the former CFO of $120M revenue commercial real estate brokerage firm I bring an unusual perspective to serving my clients who are major users of commercial real estate.  I have participated in over $1.5B in aggregate transaction value as an advocate for my corporate clients.  A sampling of my diverse client list include Adobe, Oracle, PriceWaterhouseCoopers, FriendFinders Network, Silicon Valley Bank, PDF Solutions,  Bridge Bank and Heritage bank.

My professional experience is supported by rigorous academic preparation.  I earned an MBA in corporate finance from the Kellogg School of Management at Northwestern University where I took every available real estate finance and investment course offered.  I’m a proud graduate of San Jose State where I earned an Accounting Degree.  I worked for several years post-undergraduate with PriceWaterhouseCoopers and became a licensed CPA.  Later, I served as a financial analyst for two real estate investment firms prior to returning to graduate school.

Teaching has long been a passion of mine.  I have taught Business 170 and 175 periodically over the past 25 years here at SJSU.  I regularly speak at my company’s annual National conference on real estate finance related topics as well as speaking to Silicon Valley CFO organizations.   I also have an extensive volunteer resume at SJSU as both a major fundraiser and Board Member.  I’ve served on two selection committees to choose the President of our University as well as the COB Dean Search committee.  Two of my most satisfying professional projects involved SJSU.  I had the pleasure of serving as a lead negotiator with the City of San Jose in designing the Joint Venture agreement for the MLK Library.  And I assisted the Athletic department in acquiring the Alan Simpkins Athletics offices at South Campus.
